Decoupled controller tuning for robust principal component active control

Principal Components Active Control algorithms are used in a wide range of applications, such as noise and vibration reduction. They are known to offer additional flexibility and better convergence by not controlling ill-conditioned modes. Existing stability analysis for active control mostly focus on nominal and uncertain scenarios, and in the latter case, the results are represented in a non-decoupled form, i.e., no stability ranges for the controller parameters are provided. Hence the contribution of this work is to exploit the theory of Integral Quadratic Constraints to derive decoupled stability criteria in the presence of two `troublemakers': plant uncertainty and scaling of control actions. Simulation results are provided at the end to illustrate how the stability results can be used to assist the controller's tuning procedure.
