Ethernet based multifunction DAQ using pic micro controller

Acquiring and analyzing the vibration signals play an important role in seismographic observation and estimating the failures in the product. Traditional vibration measurement systems mostly adopt electronic instruments. Their single function and worse flexibility, the non-availability in the markets and expensive prices have restricted the limits of vibration measurement and at the same time automated measurement systems became very essential requirement for manufacturing test, research laboratories and automation industry. This paper introduces the hardware which allows user to monitor, control and data acquisition for instrumentation and automation industry using Ethernet based PIC microcontroller, 16-bit ADC and DAC converters. This multifunction DAQ device features 4 differential or 8 single-ended analog input channels (16 bit), 2 analog output channels (16-bit), 8 individually-configurable digital I/O channels, two counter channels, screw terminals for field wiring connections. This device communicates the acquired data to other PCs over a network, can monitor and control the hardware in remote areas.
