Predictive current control with Kalman filter observer for a five-phase induction machine operating at fixed switching frequency

Variable switching frequency techniques for conventional predictive control are characterized for causing noise, large voltage and current ripple. A fixed switching frequency technique is presented in this paper for predictive current control applied to a five-phase induction machine. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is evaluated using the total harmonic distortion and the mean square error as figures of merit, which are shown through simulations results to demonstrate the advantages of this predictive control technique.
