TFS: A reliable routing protocol for Vehicular Content Centric Networks

Internet plays a very important role in academics, researchers, and user lives. A quick improvements in current Internet architecture are reshaping many aspects of human life. These developments also motivated the user to access and distribute the content easily. Although the Internet can facilitate and benefit people in many ways, but there are several challenges that concern the researcher's and academia e.g., content retrieval and distribution. However, the current Internet architecture is location dependent and public is mostly concerned with the content rather than the host centric networks. Content Centric Networks (CCN) has been considered as the promising architecture for future networks. CCN has provided much benefit regarding content retrieval and distribution services. Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANETs) is an emerging technology for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). Moreover, VANETs environment depends on the traditional IP based services. However, reliance on the current Internet architecture VANET environment faces several challenges like intermittent connectivity and highly dynamic mobility. Hence Vehicular Content Centric Networks (VCCN) has been proposed and emerged as a future Internet technology. Many routing protocols have been proposed by different schemes. However, due to the epidemic nature of the VCCN, forwarding is still an issue in order to mitigate the interest flooding and the disconnected link problem in VCCN architecture. The aim of this paper is to propose a routing protocol to mitigate the above-mentioned issues in VCCN while taking account the mobility. The simulation result shows that our routing protocol has the outstanding performance in terms of the throughput, delay and network load.
