A comparative assessment of scalar controlled induction motor using PI, adaptive sliding mode, and FLC based on SD controllers

Conventionally, PID controllers have been widely used for Scalar Control (SC) of Induction Motor (IM) drives in industries. However, the performance of these controllers are highly effected by modelling uncertainties and system disturbances. An alternative to this Adaptive and optimal controllers are required to overcome this issue. In this paper, Fuzzy logic Controller based (FLC) based on Steepest Descent (SD) and Adaptive Sliding Mode Controllers (A-SMC) are designed using Matlab/Simulink. Besides, comparative, analytical, and critical valuation of the design controllers with conventionally tuned PI control schemes is also presented for load disturbances and model of the proposed drive. Besides, the simulation results of the abovementioned proposed control schemes authenticated faster, smooth, and robust, response with acceptable undershoot, overshoot, rise time, and settling time for the SC of IM drive, associated to earlier works.
