Discrete time model predictive controller design for voltage control of an islanded microgrid

This paper presents the design of a robust model predictive controller for grid voltage control of an islanded microgrid. Several distributed generation units are connected in parallel for making a microgrid. The uncertain and unknown nature of the load produces un-modeled dynamics. This un-modeled dynamic introduces the measurable effect of the performance of the microgrid. The objective of the design of the controller is to control the grid voltage against different type loads. The design of this controller is done by using the discrete valued function that provides the extensive tracking performance of microgrid. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated by using MATLAB/Simulink SimPowerSystems. The simulation results show that the proposed controller provides the high tracking performance for voltage control of the microgrid system.
