Word sense disambiguation of Bangla sentences using statistical approach

Word sense disambiguation is the process of identifying appropriate sense or meaning of a word in a sentence, when the word has multiple meanings. In this work, we propose a disambiguation system using Naïve Bayes classifier and ANN to disambiguate the Bangla words. Naïve Bayes classifier for training phase and using statistical information gained from the training dataset the unknown ambiguous words are predicted and gives detecting the correct sense using ANN. For the testing phase we used general regression neural network. The result of the evaluation shows that the proposed word sense disambiguation system can disambiguate the ambiguous Bangla word with 82% accuracy.
