The barriers of long term evolution (LTE) adoption: Indonesian consumers perspective

This paper aims to investigate the barriers of LTE adoption from the viewpoint of Indonesian consumers. Data collection was carried out by Research Center for Post and Informatics, Ministry of Communication Technology of Republic of Indonesia in 2016 through a survey. We utilize descriptive statistic analysis to describe respondents profile, and binary logistic regression to analyze the factors hampering the adoption of LTE-based mobile broadband service in Indonesia. Those factors are classified into two groups, i.e., quantifiable and unquantifiable factors. The findings of this study confirmed that of six cost variables, only device cost, learning cost, and uncertainty cost, considered as the barriers to adopting LTE-based services. These findings expected could contribute in devising the strategy to promote mobile broadband adoption in Indonesia.
