Electromagnetic Performances Analysis of IPMSM According to the Current Control Method Under Flux-Weakening Control Region

In this paper, we dealt with the design and characteristics analysis of a 130 kW interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) through the finite element analysis for propulsion system of an electric vehicle. In flux-weakening control region of IPMSM, six-step operation is considered to widen a high-speed region. However, electromagnetic performance of the motor depends on the input current condition, known as time harmonics. To verify its effect, first, we implement two types of current control method by simulink: one is space vector pulse width modulation, and the other is six-step. Then, we conduct the finite element analysis to verify a difference of electromagnetic performance of IPMSM such as force, loss, permanent magnet irreversible demagnetization, especially under flux-weakening control region according to these current control methods.
