A Software Reliability Model Based on Failure Mode

A failure mode based model of software reliability is presented for software reliability estimation. It can provide estimation of existing reliability or prediction of future reliability by kernel density estimation techniques. It was developed to overcome some of the difficulties in using existing software reliability growth models. The software reliability model based on failure mode has certain advantages over ordinary software reliability models verified through the simulation experiment. Additionally, a comparison of reliability model based on failure mode (RMFM) with existing software reliability models confirms that RMFM is more precise than those by existing models.
