Functionality design of enterprise service bus (ESB) as middleware on the smart educational service computing system platform

An important problem of integration of smart educational services is the compatibility between services to work together in the utilization of information technology (IT) resources. Enterprise service bus (ESB) as SOA middleware in the data integration process connects services between service providers and consumer services, thus eliminating the dependency of direct / point-to-point communication access. ESB's main functionality is to route, transform protocols, and transform messages or data. ESB was introduced as a data exchange infrastructure and smart educational SOA service connection by facilitating environmental differences to become manageable. The need for ESB functionality is not only data integration, but also to meet the business needs of smart educational services. This study aims at designing ESB functionality as middleware on a smart educational computing system platform based on the concept of "integration suite". The reference plaftform model of the service computing system refers to the Technical Framework of Service Computing. This framework consists of four layers: Service Systems Layer, Service Applications Layer, Service Convergence Layer, and Service Resource Layer. The ESB is in the Services System Layer, functioning as a middleware for the integration of smart educational services. ESB's functionality design for smart education is based on the existing high school education in West Java Province, Indonesia.
