Magnetic core model for a reliable simulation of three-phase transformer in PSPICE

Computer simulation of transient states in three-or five-legged three-phase transformers requires a magnetic core model reflecting the real structure of magnetic circuit. Most of the PSPICE variants do not provide proper components to build equivalent circuit of branched magnetic cores with multiple windings. The solution to this problem can be a two-terminal non-linear reluctance model described in this paper. The model uses modified Jiles-Atherton magnetic hysteresis equations. To support the usefulness of such approach, simulation results of the same three-phase transformer obtained using three-legged branched core and three separate cores were compared.
