Radiating frequency character of dipole antenna with EBG board as a reflector

The frequency character of dipole antenna loading with EBG board is discussed. The EBG reflector is set behind the dipole antenna as a reflector board. For the coupling between the antenna and the EBG reflector the radiating frequency would shift compared to the isolated dipole. The paper focuses on the radiating frequency character of the antenna system. Simulations were implemented. The simulation results indicated that the image part of the antenna system is zero at radiating frequency, which means the EBG structure and the dipole system is in resonance state. When the distance between antenna and the EBG reflector changed the radiating frequency changed also. With the distance increasing the radiating frequency changed nonlinearly and the value has the decreasing tendency.
