Comparison analysis of software defined network and OSPF protocol using virtual media

Analysis of Software Defined Network or so-called SDN is done to be compared with OSPF that emulated on GNS3. Opendaylight is one of the SDN controllers with Mininet as its emulator. The configuration implements dijkstra algorithm by changing variable loss on the SDN link and cost of the OSPF link. Link-failure testing is used since SDN has not been tested in its path-route. Test results show that SDN can not learn new path if there is a down link. The QoS measurements show that SDN results in delay, jitter, packet loss are in excellent ETSI standards compared to OSPF. SDN without loss provides the best performance by generating 0.3–6ms delay range and 0% packet loss. SDN with variable loss has a small delay and jitter value but has a loss of up to 100% on topology 5 and 7 Open vSwitch when given a load of 30000 bytes and 65500 bytes.
