ECG-based selection of angiographic images using DICOM facilities

Presents a system that selects quasi-automatically the useful images of both coronaries out of a complete angiographic recording session. The useful images are those having a satisfying contrast-agent distribution, corresponding with the same deformations caused by the contractions of the heart muscle, and being recorded from different viewpoints. Using the authors' system called 'AngioView', cardiologists no longer need to browse manually through the huge number of images while making a diagnosis. Consequently, diagnosing becomes faster and easier. As the selection became possible using the properties of DICOM data archival, AngioView demonstrates some of the advantages that can be obtained using DICOM.
