OERs and MOOCs in the UNED: Strengthening MOOCs with a job-oriented philosophy

This article presents the work of the Spanish University for Distance Education (UNED) in bringing learning contents and open courses for those who are interested in learning without any geographical barrier. On the one hand, open courses were developed in collaboration with several secondary schools to promote interest of pre-university people in engineering. On the other hand, new courses have been developed to fully meet the requirements of the microelectronics and renewable energy sectors, the latter in collaboration with the expert company INOMA Renewables. These courses are based on the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance project: MicroElectronics Cloud Alliance (MECA), where our university is an active member. The aim of these courses is to promote the mobility of students within the European Area as well as sharing educational resources and open courses with the rest of the participants in the MECA project. Finally, the acceptance of these new courses in different environments and population groups has led to extending them and others to a MOOC format in order to bring these and many more to any person, without boundaries.
