Modeling and simulation of controllable AC series resistive load

This paper presents a controllable AC series resistive load composed of eight resistive elements, which values contain binary weights. This setup provides 255 options of equivalent resistances. The equivalent resistance change is performed at zero voltage crossing, avoiding the use of harmonic filters. The proposed topology is an alternative of controllable electronic load to be used with alternating voltage equipment. An AC load, in constant current mode, is tested through analytical evaluations and electrical simulations.
