Automated testing of the medical device

Medical devices can be checked for efficiency and effectiveness using automated tests. A medical device generally consists of knobs, switches and pushbuttons to operate. While manual testing of the efficacy of the functioning associated with the switches is possible, its often not possible to stress the functionality by manual testing. Stress testing of the functionality associated with the knobs is possible by tapping into the electrical point receptive to the input action associated with the switch. The first part of automated testing is to automate the manual switches which are the part of medical device. These switches are used for rebooting, ventilating etc. This can be done by using software that assists programming switches that operate on electrical signals, like those offered by NI LabVIEW. The next part is to send the desired key presses from the computer to the device and then to verify whether the action corresponding to the keypress is executed. This can be done by using Python scripts. By automating, a couple of advantages are increased test efficiency, and a reliability statistic by way of the number of automated tests run before we see errors otherwise not seen during normal human operation.
