Performance analysis of zigzag map and hash function to generate random number

Discrete-time chaotic (DTC) map based true random number generators (TRNG) are cryptographic primitives, which its performance is scalable for the low power applications. In this paper, we analyzed zigzag as a discrete time chaotic map, which is utilized in TRNG. The zigzag map has an excellent chaotic behavior, its input and output values alternate between positive and negative values. To eliminate the correlation and bias of the resulting number sequence, we utilize hash function as post processing. The zigzag map output defines as the initial values of the hash function, which are restricted by a minimum value. The tests result indicate that the numbers generated by the proposed method have high entropy value, uncorrelated numbers and pass all NIST 800-22 the randomness statistical test suites.
