Preface of the 11th FRUCT conference proceeding

We welcome you to the 11th Conference of Open Innovations Association FRUCT. This time our conference is hosted by Saint-Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation and Saint-Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI". Both organizations have very strong and long history of cross-border cooperation between Finland and Russia and are active members of the FRUCT Association. The conference is organized by FRUCT in partnership and with financial support of ENPI Karelia CBC Programme 2007-2013 (project KA-179), FRUCT and IEEE Russia (NorthWest) Section. Also the conference and its participants are supported by Nokia University Cooperation Program in Russia, Qt Development Framework Program, EMC2 and Nokia Siemens Networks. Traditionally, the conference program consists of a number of training, workshop and conference sessions, which are packed into a number of intensive training modules and parallel presentation sessions scheduled for April 23-27, 2012. The total number of submissions to the 11th FRUCT conference was 69, out of which 21 papers were accepted for publication as 'Full Papers', so the conference acceptance rate is 30%. Continues development of the strategic partnership between industrial and academic research is a key success factor of the modern innovation ecosystem. In FRUCT Association we believe that it is crucial to combine forces of EU and ex-USSR countries to follow up the competition in adopting university education to the new industrial challenges. The first step in this direction is to strength the bridge between Russian and Finnish academic worlds, increase visibility of involved research teams and build up direct personal contacts between academic and industrial experts.
