A CMOS 2.4 GHz RF transceiver for train safety monitoring systems

A 2.4 GHz +6 dBm RF transceiver for train safety monitoring systems is implemented on 0.18 μm CMOS process. The architectures of RF transceiver are direct conversion receiver and transmitter. The current consumptions in Rx and Tx modes are 24.4 mA and 21.5 mA with 1.8-V power supply. The receiver gain, NF, and IIP3 are 98 dB, 7.3 dB, and -13.5 dBm, respectively. PLL adopts QVCO for low power consumption and simple IQ generation. The transmitter can drive +6 dBm at maximum power and the measured PER at -85 dBm received power is under 2%.
