Transient stability analysis of SCIG based marine current farm and doubly fed induction generator based offshore wind farm using bridge type fault current limiter

Transient stability is a major issue for the renewable generators. The marine current farm is aggregated with the squirrel cage induction generator(SCIG) and the offshore wind farm is aggregated with the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Both types of generators are highly affected with the faults at grid side. However, both MCF and OWF need to stay connected to the grid during faults on the grid side. Therefore it is essential to improve the transient stability and damping enhancement of grid connected SCIG based MCF and DFIG based OWF. PID damping controllers are proposed with bridge-type fault current limiter (BFCL) to improve the transient stability of the studied system. Various types of faults are applied at PCC to check the effectiveness of the PID damping controller for transient stability enhancement.
