Abstract:

In this Paper, we present a development of high speed thermal printer. A Thermal printer produces a printed image by selectively heating thermal paper as it is commonly known, when the paper passes over the thermal print head the coating turns black in the areas where it is heated, producing an image. The Printer works at a maximum speed of 80mm/sec on a standard paper. And even it works on RTOS. We are implementing these printers using Synergy S1 Controller and These Printers are light weight and well compact. & used in wide range of applications such as in ATMS, Transport, healthcare, Grocery stores & supermarkets etc. Thermal printers have only one or two moving components, easy to operate and maintenance cost is also very low. In ATMS Once the transaction is done then the machine will issue a receipt the ATM machine does not use ordinary ink for printing. They work with thermal printing technology.

I. Introduction

In Thermal printer the thermal paper is the only consumable paper that is used. The first Printers are normally used to print the receipts from different kind of machines like ATMS etc and when it comes to speed thermal printer can work in high speed. Compared to other printers even cost is low and speed is more. They are mainly compact in design and works at high performance make it reliable for the retail and many more labelling applications. The printer works at a speed of 40mm/sec basically the printer is of 2 inch mechanism. And there will be various print specifications based on the printing speed, printing system, thermal head configuration, number of digits of print characters, character configuration, reliability performance and others. Here we are using synergy SlMCU mainly designed for meet up for their specifications like scalability, power consumption and performance for any product using embedded system control and mainly designed for rapidly expanding lot of markets. RENESAS Synergy™ have features to built-in ease connectivity, establish rock-solid security and in each series they are mainly pin compatible, and even the code can be reutilized from one controller to another one. The features of S1 controller are it has the ultra-low power core frequency up to 32MHZ.MCU enables incredibly long battery life in portable or non-portable applications that must survive a long time in standby mode It has 32MHz ARM CORTEX MO Processor, when it comes to memory it has SRAM of 16kb, code flash up to 128kb and data flash up to 4Kb and when it comes to connectivity USBS, Serial communication interface and SPI are used. And choice of RTOS is THREADX mainly a choice for synergy family of microcontrollers.
