Enhancement of power system performance with SVC-DFIG in 140 — bus system

This paper proposes a reactive power management analysis of the power electronic converters for grid-connected system. Power system stability affected by impedance of a Transmission line, Line Faults and various RLC load power losses. The power electronic based Controllers examined are: Thyristor controlled Reactor (TCR) + Multiples of Thyristor Switched Capacitor (TSC) or the Static VAR Compensator (SVC) and doubly fed induction generator. The aim is to determine which bus yields the highest demand of reactive power to improve voltage stability to overcome power losses of the conductor per line length with a predetermined voltage and optimum location of multiples of SVC. In view of this, a furled commercial Static VAR compensator model is developed and used to generate power for different load conditions. Afterwards, a relation between the various configurations TSC is established to evaluate the stability of the power system. The power loss model presented in this paper has taken into account the conduction and load power losses within the power system. The analysis reveals that Enhancement of power system performance with SVC managed reactive power network and voltage stabilisation considered in this research. It is shown that SVC controller with multiples of TSC has the dominant effect on the system considerably improved grid reliability, availability and Stability. This research indicates multiple TSC is a much better option for grid-connected DFIG based wind energy conversion 140 bus system.
