Research on coordinated charging and influence of EV based on distributed charge control

The large-scale un-coordinated charging electric vehicles(EV) will reduce the quality and reliability of power grid significantly. Centralized control can achieve the coordinated charging of EV. But cost of construction and maintenance of control system is increasing with the development of EVs. For the scattered distribution of EV, distributed control is more convenient to be realized. A coordinated charging method for decentralized charging control is proposed in this paper. During the peak load period, the charging pile to the default rules of EV charging part off without centralized control can realize the target of “peak load shifting”. The preset condition is based on the State of Charge (SOC), and the little SOC with less probability is delayed charging. It is possible to avoid the case that the EV is not fully charged at the end of the charging. The proposed method can effectively avoid the surge of charging load after regulation. The simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively reduce the load difference between peak and valley, and reduce the negative impact of the large-scale EV charging on the grid.
