Operation of the Helium Cryogenic System for the Hybrid Superconducting Outsert at CHMFL

A hybrid magnet that is capable of producing more than 40 T steady field has been put into operation early this year at CHMFL, Hefei, China. The superconducting outsert of the hybrid magnet is wound with Nb
₃
Sn CICC and designed to be cooled 4.5 K forced flow supercritical helium. The helium cryogenic system mainly includes an LHe plant, a cryo-distribution box, a magnet cryostat, and a multichannel transfer line. With the operation of the helium cryogenic system, the superconducting outsert was successfully cooled down to 4.5 K and tested. This paper highlights the main features and operating situations of the helium cryogenic system.
