Optically reconfigurable gate array driven by a lithium-ion battery

Currently, optically reconfigurable gate arrays have been being developed for space radiation environment applications. An optically reconfigurable gate array consists of a holographic memory, a laser array, and an optically reconfigurable gate array VLSI. The optically reconfigurable gate array is a type of field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The radiation tolerance of the optically reconfigurable gate arrays are much higher than those of currently available FPGAs in terms of total-ionizing-dose and soft-error tolerances. This paper therefore presents an optically reconfigurable gate array using a radiation-hardened stabilized power supply unit based on a lithium-ion battery.
