Full SMT low cost X-band multichannel T/R-module

An X-band 12-channel T/R-module with a highly integrated SiGe core chip and integrated radiating elements is presented to demonstrate the potential of applying standard SMT technology for cost reduction of military X-band T/R-modules. The paper also reports on necessary development steps on assembly technology and component level in order to fully adopt standard SMT technology without loss in RF performance for high volume production of military X-band T/R-modules.
