A scheme of survival virtual network embedding based on robust topology design

With the development of network virtualization which is recognized as a promising solution for the ossification of current Internet, how to map a virtual network to a shared physical substrate network while guaranteeing survivability in the event of failures has recently gained notable attention. Existing protection schemes focus more on the utilization of physical network resources however pay less attention on the failure recovery rate. In this work, we present a novel scheme of survival virtual network embedding based on robust backup topology which takes recovery into consideration. We first design the backup virtual network topology by adding links to enhance its survivability and then embed it on a reserved quota for backup on each physical link using a multiplexing sharing strategy which achieves load balance. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can achieve higher restoration comparing to other sharing algorithms and efficiently increase the long term business profit for InPs.
