A study on antenna arrangement optimization of massive MIMO

In this paper, we propose a method to efficiently arrange a large number of antenna elements in limited space of base station by using mathematical optimization with channel response correlation between two antenna elements as an objective function. We place antenna elements in various sized areas by the method. The arrangement results are compared with planar equidistant arrangements. We found that the average 11.3% performance improves at 50% value of cumulative distribution function of channel capacity in a street cell environment with two users.
