A miniaturized wideband dual-polarized antenna for base-station applications

In this paper, a miniaturized wideband dual-polarized antenna loaded with parasitic loops and straight dipoles has been proposed for 2G/3G/4G base-station applications. Firstly, by loading four parasitic loops to the corners of regular crossed loop dipoles, a miniaturized structure and enhanced impedance bandwidth can be obtained. Then, based on the miniaturized structure, two straight dipoles are inserted into the gap of crossed loop dipoles, and a further widened impedance bandwidth is realized. Measurement shows that the antenna achieves an wide impedance bandwidth of 49.6% with SWR<;1.5 (1.7 to 2.83 GHz) and a high isolation of greater than 28 dB within the bandwidth. Also, a stable radiation pattern with half-power beamwidth of 66.1±3.4° at horizontal plane and a stable gain of 8.5±0.5 dBi are obtained simultaneously over the working frequency band.
