Abstract:

This paper suggest a method for enhancing heat transfer from a 15W CFL bulb inside a wall ceiling without compromising its luminous intensity. Inside wall ceiling, bulbs are generally subjected to low heat interaction with the surroundings due to the presence of stagnant air around the lateral surface. In this work we are introducing fins to this lateral surface to improve heat transfer to the surroundings and there by maintain the bulb surface temperature with in a comfortable range. Heat transfer analysis were performed for the bulb with and without attaching fins and compared. Results shows that addition of fins considerably reduces the bulb's surface temperature.
