Dynamic SATCOM traffic management and bandwidth efficiency

For satellite communications (SATCOM) to appropriately serve the requirements of the warfighter, they must provide both the needed throughput and quality of service (QoS) in a timely fashion. As we move into battlespaces with rapidly unfolding contingencies, a ponderous management process with hours or days of response time would severely constrain the usefulness of the SATCOM resource. This paper discusses how contract-based network management provides a communication network infrastructure appropriate to support the efficient, flexible, and dynamic warfighter seen in Joint Vision 2010.
