AC components insertion into rotor of synchronous generator for damping of harmonics on current in bar

In this work, it is proposed, through mathematical and computational modeling, to simulate the electrical interactions between a synchronous generator of protruding poles with its field winding being fed by a DC component to a common bus in the permanent regime, subject to a nonlinear loads. Next, sine-wave voltage components with multiple frequencies of the fundamental are inserted in order to promote a reduction in the harmonic index, especially current, for the infinite bus. The tests carried out in a computational environment confirmed the results of the electrical modeling. It was evident that the insertion of sinusoidal components of even-order stresses n in the rotor winding influences the harmonic components of odd orders n + 1, as discussed in the course of the paper. With the insertion of these components, a reduction of approximately 40% in the harmonic distortion rate of current at the point of measurement of the infinite bus is achieved.
