Load Study of the Bangladesh Grid System through Zhukov's Reduction Technique

Network reduction methods are essential and useful means today for analyzing large, complex power systems with much ease. It is desired that the reduced network represent the original network as closely as possible. Several methods are available in the literature for the reduction purpose. Zhukov's method of network reduction is well-suited to large system reduction where identity of pertinent original nodes can be retained to a large extent. This paper reduces the Bangladesh 123-bus transmission system to a reduced 47-bus system through Zhukov's method. Load studies carried through MATLAB simulation shows that the error between node voltages of the original and reduced system are generally small. The transform has been observed to be power invariant.
