A MATH-KIT for engineers

Whether we are assessing the mathematical background of incoming students or designing and assessing the mathematical modules and assessment for a given engineering programme, we need a succinct method for classifying the desired learning outcomes—a taxonomy of the learning objectives. This article describes a simple practitioner-friendly classification of educational objectives (MATH-KIT), and discusses how it can be used to design appropriate curricula, teaching methods and assessment that develop higher order learning skills in a simple and transparent way.
