Ionospheric scintillation mapping at low latitude: Over Indonesia

Ionospheric scintillation based on spatial are required to mitigate the effect on telecommunication and navigation systems. This research aims mapping ionospheric scintillation over region of Indonesia. It is based on spatial analysis of occurrence variations of ionospheric scintillation. It makes it easier to determine where and when the ionospheric scintillation occurs. The low latitude ionospheric scintillation over Indonesia was investigated using two GPS receivers installed at Manado and Bandung in Indonesia during period 2014 and 2015 from GISTM (GPS Ionospheric Scintillations and TEC Monitor). Mapping of ionospheric scintillation on the latitude and longitude over Indonesia was obtained from observational data using scintillation ionospheric model. The results show map of diurnal variation longitudinal and latitudinal ionospheric scintillation and the higher percentage of scintillation occurrences for strong level occurs during equinox months at low latitude during period 2014-2015.
