LabVIEW based EMG and blood pressure measurement bio telemetry system

The objective of this paper is to present a real time bio-telemetry system using LabVIEW, which acquires, analyzes and processes physiological parameters such as Electromyogram and Blood Pressure. This system enables continuous monitoring of a patient, which in turn helps the doctor to make a better diagnosis, thus ensuring mobility of both the patient and the doctor. In this proposed system we have developed an algorithm to acquire, process and analyze Electromyogram and Blood Pressure using Virtual Instrumentation platform. The raw EMG signal is acquired by using EKG sensor and Hand Dynamometer. Blood Pressure is acquired using non invasive oscillometric technique which involves the use of Blood Pressure sensor. These bio signals are processed and signal conditioning takes place at the NI ELVIS platform which is further fed to the LabVIEW for feature extraction and analysis [9]. The acquired signals can be monitored via a remote location in real time using the Web Publishing Tool [9].
