Eye blink count and eye blink duration analysis for deception detection

Face based deception detection systems are non-invasive and are more convenient than other deception detection systems as the facial images can be captured and analyzed without the knowledge of the subject being analysed. Deception detection research studies show that blink rate is an indicator of deception. Some studies concluded that blink rate increases during deception, whereas some other researchers concluded that during deception blink rate decreases. The goal of the current study is to analyse blink count and blink duration of truth and lie responses of various subjects while answering interview questions. In this paper a psychological experiment was conducted for deception detection wherein the blink count and blink duration of the 50 subjects were analysed for truth and lie responses for 10 control questions. The questions are related to name, age, place, house, marital status, entertainment, food and religion. The analysis shows that blink duration and blink count are more while lying.
