Soliton explosions in a fiber laser mode-locked by nonlinear polarization evolution

We report on the first observation, to the best of our knowledge, of soliton explosion in an ultrafast fiber laser mode-locked by nonlinear polarization evolution. Different from previous experimental observations in passively mode-locked lasers, the soliton explosions continue thousands roundtrips.
