Thermal energy production from closed geothermal reservoirs using reinjection

The paper presents the technology used for extracting the energy of geothermal water that comes from a closed reservoir without decreasing the pressure of the reservoir. In order to do this, the reinjection of heat depleted geothermal water is obligatory. Therefore, beside the production well, an injection well is mandatory. Also, because of the high concentration of dissolved solids and to avoid scaling, the geothermal water must be chemically treated. The geothermal water is used for space heating. Therefore, this paper presents the benefit of using geothermal water for environmental protection and reducing the air pollution. Using geothermal energy instead of burning fossil fuels reduces the greenhouse effect and atmospheric pollution. The annual economy is 174 toe.
