Determination of oxygenation performances of aeration equipment

To identify the performances of an aeration equipment, it is necessary to determine some parameters which helps to classify it from the hydraulic-technical-economic point of view. Current methods compare mechanical equipment to hydrodynamic parameters. The most important parameters are the oxygenation capacity, CO [kgO
₂
/h], the economic coefficient, E [kgO
₂
/kWh] and the specific power index, δ [W/m
³
]. As a result of “in situ” researches, this paper presents the results obtained for two mechanical surface aerators with different power consumed 25 [kW], 37 [kW] respectively. The aeration tank has a height of 3.8 [m] and a volume of 2500 [m
³
] and are located 6 aerators total. The results show that an increase of the equipment power by 48% led to an increase of the oxygenation capacity by 79%, an increase of 33% in the specific power and 21% the economic coefficient.
