Enhancement Method for Infrared Dim-Small Target Images Based on Rough Set

A new method based on rough set theory is put forward for enhancing infrared dim-small target images. Rough set is firstly utilized to separate image pixels according to the differences of gray scale and gradient among targets, background and noises. Then different processing for different pixel sets is done, so infrared dim-small targets can be enhanced perfectly, and at the same time the background and noises are restrained partly. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed enhancement method with rough set.
