Constructing the cloud computing system for advanced data analysis of biomedical research

Cloud computing is an emerging technology. Based on the concept of parallel computing, it greatly enhances the data processing ability and the data storage capacity. On the other hand, the combination of medical services and the cloud computing is an important industry trend. Through the medical “Internet of Things”, a huge amount of data have been gathered and should be analyzed for various cloud services. Therefore in this research, the private cloud computing system has been implemented using Apache Hadoop. Data storage of the system would be based on the HDFS as well as the cloud database HBase, and various source data have been collected and imported into the distributed storage system. Functional packages from the MLlib library as well as the RHadoop software would be utilized as tools for further data exploration. Since the impact of environmental factors on physiological functions has been one of the focuses of scientific research, in the near future we would like to validate whether environmental pollutant increases the risk of disease occurrences. The ultimate goal of research is to develop the cloud services for biomedical academic research.
