Dissipative losses at nonstationary electromagnetic probing of orthotropic low-conducting composites

In this paper, dissipative losses accompanying the probing of an orthotropic low-conducting composites are determined using a point source of an external stair current. The problem is described by the tangential projections of 3-dimensional non-stationary differential equations of the x- and y- components of the elementary vector potential. In this case, inhomogeneous wave equations for the air and homogeneous electrical conductivity equations for the composite are used. A direct Laplace-Carson transformation is applied to obtain analytic expressions for images of the tangential projections of the transmission and reflection coefficients of the probing field. In the original area, analytical expressions of the said characteristics are found by means of the inverse Laplace-Carson transformation. The expressions are obtained for the real and imaginary parts of the x- and y-projections of the characteristics. The relative hodographs are constructed for the transmission and reflection coefficients differing in the coefficient values of the field dissipation through the lateral surface of the reinforcing fiber tows. The hodographs analysis shows the possibility of diagnosing the cracking degree of the matrix between the reinforcing fiber tows.
