Massive MIMO testing facility for future 5G systems

This paper presents a measuring facility for characterization of massive MIMO systems and MIMO channels in wide frequency range up to 500 GHz. The realized set-up uses only two moveable antennas instead of a full matrix, therefore both cost and complexity are smaller comparing to typical over-the-air (OTA) testing facilities. Short review of most recent MIMO OTA testing methods is given for comparison with the realized facility. Exemplary measurements of a channel impulse response (CIR) are given to demonstrate high resolution and high dynamic range of the instrumentation.
