IoT infrastructure to increase access to non-ADA buildings

As IT technology develops rapidly, society is changing to where all things are connected together beyond the computing and mobile era. As a result, the global smart building market is steadily growing. However, these IoT technologies are somewhat currently limited to newer buildings, and it is a reality that they pay mainly through service companies. In order to popularize IoT technology, it should be convenient to use and aocesable to the general public, especially those with physical or mental challenges, who can gain advantage through newer technologies. In this paper, we propose a method to integrate IoT technology into buildings using simple, inexpensive and accessible devices and open source software to create technology for adapting non-ADA compliant buildings and structures. Based on technology such as the Raspberry Pi, Amazon Web Services and the OpenCV Python Library can be used to control various actions in the building. The desire is this method will inspire IoT development to be used in a variety of ways that create greater accessibility in physical, economic and technological dimensions. All of the technology developed in this work is controlled by mobile, wearable components that can be customized depending on the specific physical challenge of the user.
