A practical application of an analytical method for modeling power transmission lines

For the analysis of power transmission line, under steady state, the evaluation of the longitudinal profile of voltage and current allows predicting the existence of overvoltage or overcurrent even when the voltage at both ends may have acceptable values. For doing so, computer modelling of transmission line has been so far the most obvious and feasible way. However, today, this evaluation has become analytically feasible. Thus, this is the essence of this work, in which the evaluation of longitudinal profile of voltage and current amplitude of a real 230 kV power transmission line is performed through Laplace transform. The main result is that, from now on, the analytical approach can be also taken for the analysis of the behavior of a three-phase power transmission line, in addition to the usual computer simulation.
