Dependence of an OATS' site insertion loss on the admitted parameter tolerances

Open Area Test Sites (OATS) serve as reference for antenna calibration and many types of electromagnetic compatibility tests, since they provide more accurate results than other testing environments. However, the high level of accuracy demanded by the standard CISPR 16-1-5 can only be guaranteed if certain parameters are well arranged. Moreover, the feasibility of sufficiently accurate measurement processes depends on the stability of the site insertion loss with respect to variations of these parameters. To examine the sensitivity of the site insertion loss to crucial parameters, a precise numerical simulation is developed and applied in this work. The presented method is also compared with the sensitivity analysis provided in the CISPR standard. Finally, consequences for the feasibility of accurate measurement processes on OATS are deduced.
