A 3D coil structure achieving uniform magnetic field for in-vitro cell experiments

Extremely high levels of magnetic fields can be generated by Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems for E-vehicles. There is a concern on the impact of human exposure to electromagnetic fields of WPT especially on any cell responses related to potential hazards. In this paper, a novel 3D coil winding structure is proposed to achieve an extremely uniform magnetic field inside the solenoid required for in-vitro experiments in analyzing cellular changes under radiation induced by WPT systems. The uniformity requirement of the magnetic field inside the 3D coil is confirmed by numerical simulations using HFSS software and by experiments.
